Maurice Road Reconstruction

Description:

Maurice Road, Monarto; is located in a rural environment approximately 5km west of Murray Bridge, between Old Princes Highway and Netley Road (both are under the care and management of the Rural City of Murray Bridge). The road provides access for heavy vehicles to the quarry, Mobilong Prison and various other primary production operations.

Council has resolved to undertake construction and sealing works on Maurice Road as part of its Secondary Freight Route. This will provide significant benefit in providing an alternative access route to the northern sector of Murray Bridge from the Monarto area and links directly to the existing over-dimension / B-double bypass route at Cypress Terrace.

The extent of work is from Old Princes Highway to CH 1660 and includes the intersection with the Old Princes Highway (approximately 240m of new shoulder pavement construction and sealing with asphalt).

Works Undertaken:

PRELIMINATIRES AND SITE ESTABLISHMENT:

• Preparation of a Project Management Plan which includes;
  • Environmental Management Plan
  • Traffic Management Plan – including alternate arrangements for any staging
  • Inspection Test Plan
  • Construction Program
  • Establish site amenities
  • Mobilise plant and equipment to site
  • Establish traffic management plan approved by Council

SITE CLEARING AND EARTHWORKS:

• Removal and legal disposal of existing vegetation as documented
• Strip topsoil from all areas to be disturbed and stockpile at an agreed location with Council
• Complete earthworks for the proposed road formation to the full extent of batters
• Re-pegging of road by a licensed surveyor after completion of earthworks
• Conduct check survey of the worked areas by a licensed surveyor to demonstrate that construction tolerances have been achieved

STORMWATER DRAINAGE

• Construct the stormwater drainage crossings as defined on the design drawings

PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION:

• Prepare the subgrade, and proof roll in accordance with the documentation, to receive the sub-base
• Arrange and pay for an as-constructed survey of the sub-grade by a licensed surveyor to demonstrate that work is in accordance with specifications
• Supply, place and compact the sub-base
• Proof roll the sub-base
• Supply, place and compact the base-course
• Proof roll the base course
• At interfaces with existing roads, saw cut existing bitumen perpendicular to the road centreline, demolish existing pavements and reconstruct pavement
• Carry out all testing at each stage as required

• Supply and installation of new;
